Crystal Meth

Methamphetamine was created from amphetamine (speed), and has similar effects. It causes a loss of appetite, increased energy and activity, and a sense of confidence and well-being. Methamphetamine does have some medical uses, and is a Schedule 2 stimulant, available only through prescription. However, it is illegally manufactured and sold all over the world.

Methamphetamine comes in many forms. It can be smoked, snorted, eaten or injected. The different methods of use produce different results.

Crystal meth can be easily and cheaply made at home, making it very difficult to control the spread of the drug. In addition, many people don't see it as a dangerous drug because of this. However, methamphetamines are both highly addictive and very dangerous, with many physical side-effects. It is also easy to overdose on crystal meth, because the body becomes tolerant of it very quickly so the effect wears off before the drug has left the bloodstream. People therefore take more and more to maintain the effects. Methamphetamines have also been known to trigger violent behaviour and overly aggressive reactions.
