Students with Learning Disability

Special Education is education above and beyond the regular classroom that helps children with 'barriers to learning'. These barriers may be physical or mental disabilities. A physically disabled child might be visually or hearing impaired, or confined to a wheelchair. A mentally disabled child might be autistic, bipolar, dyslexic, or any of a number of other conditions that make learning more difficult.

Who Is Eligible for Special Education? Special education is usually available for children who have conditions such as:

• Downs Syndrome, Autism and similar conditions
• Attention Deficit Disorders (ADHD)
• Hearing, Vision and Speech Impairments
