Maize extras

Due to resource overexploitation resulting in declining yields, rice-wheat systems need to be diversified. Maize, a crop with high yield and market potential, fits well into rice-wheat systems. It can replace rice, wheat, or both, or be incorporated as an intercrop. The demand for maize may surpass the demand for both rice and wheat by the year 2020.
